The start of the school year will take place on 1 September 2022. This is a well-known date that marks children's return to school duties. However, to be able to enjoy the holidays in peace, it's worth preparing for the return to school earlier. Leaving it until the last minute is not a good idea and often causes a lot of stress for both parents and children. Have you ever tried to do back-to-school shopping in the last week of the holidays? Exactly! To avoid this, it's better to be prepared in advance.

Start of the school year, 1 September

Although most children know this date perfectly well, it's worth a reminder. After the holidays, the return to school will take place on 1 September 2022, on Thursday. That's when the official start of the school year ceremony will take place. Pupils will return to their old classes, or in the case of little ones just starting first grade, will begin their school education. This is also when the new pre-school year begins, although in the case of nurseries, the way the facility operates may vary during the holiday period. The start of the school year is not only about the return of duties, but also a reunion with friends and school mates not seen for a long time. There's certainly plenty to talk about after the holidays.

What to wear for the start of the school year?

The official start of the school year ceremony also requires an appropriate outfit. Pupils should appear at the assembly in festive attire. While older children decide for themselves what to wear for the start of the school year, it's different for younger ones. The same goes for first-graders, who are appearing at the assembly for the first time. It's the parents who will decide how to dress their child for the start of the school year. Of course, this can be a joint decision between children and parents, as it's worth taking the child's opinion into account - after all, they're now old enough to be starting school. In the child's mind, they're probably already almost grown up and can decide on more than just their outfit.

We recommend a comfortable white kids' T-shirt or an equally suitable white short-sleeve girls' T-shirt. A classic navy blue kids' blazer will complete the look. In such clothing, the child will feel comfortable, which is most important, but will also look festive and presentable at the start of the pre-school year.

What to wear for the start of the school year?

Teenagers have quite a wide choice of outfits for the start of the school year. These can be classic skirts and shirts, or shirts and suit trousers. However, this is a very typical combination, so older children, who like to express themselves through clothing, often opt for other solutions, of course trying to stay within the convention of an outfit that stands out and is appropriate for the start of the school year. Among older pupils, tracksuit-style blazers are often seen, which work perfectly for school ceremonies. This piece of clothing is good not only for younger children - older ones also happily reach for it. They look good in it, and it's a very comfortable garment. Importantly, the model doesn't have to be navy blue or black - a bottle green teen blazer also looks great.

Or maybe powder pink, light blue or red? All these colours will work well for the start of the school year. If you take care of the right outfit early enough, the problem of what to wear for the start of the school year will disappear. Just put a blazer in the wardrobe, which will calmly wait for the end of the holidays. It can be combined with trousers or a skirt - putting together an outfit won't be difficult once the basic piece has been chosen.

What else should you remember before the start of the school year?

Although the outfit is the first thing you'll need for the start of the school year, it's worth thinking about a few other important matters, so that the beginning of the year isn't spent shopping and gathering necessary items. Of course, a lot depends on whether it's the first start of the school year or another one. Seven-year-olds, primary school pupils and secondary school pupils will all have different needs. However, the common needs include:

• school supplies/books, backpacks. Depending on the stage of education, we need to provide children with textbooks or they'll receive them for free. However, a backpack, a pencil case and writing tools are essential for every pupil. If it's another year of school and there's no need to buy a new backpack or supplies, it's worth taking care of the ones you already have on the last day of school - i.e. taking out any last sandwiches that might still be in the backpack and removing books or notebooks from it. It should be cleaned out or chosen if that's an option. You should also go through the pencil case, throw away pens or markers that no longer write, and sharpen pencils. It's also a good idea to make a list at this point of what needs to be bought - there's sure to be something missing, such as a new set of coloured pens, correction fluid or a ruler. You don't have to rush out shopping on the last day of school, but the sooner you fill in the gaps, the sooner you'll be able to forget about getting ready for school again.

So you need to buy a suitable set, for example navy blue kids' shorts combined with a white T-shirt with a pocket. It's also worth equipping yourself with comfortable clothes for school that are easy to style and don't take much time, which matters when getting ready for school in the morning. Of course, this shopping mainly concerns first-graders, who may not yet have the wardrobe that works well at school.

Prepare well for the start of school, plan what to wear for the start of the school year, and saying goodbye to the holidays will be easier. The sooner you buy the little things needed for school, the sooner you'll be able to relax and enjoy the holidays with your child. After all, 1 September is still a long way off.
