Minimalist style is usually not just minimalism in clothing, it's most often an approach to fashion, and often to life. See if this solution is for you?

Minimalist style - what does it mean?

Minimalist style usually applies not only to minimalist clothing, but has a broader context and is a reflection of an approach to life. When we ask what minimalism is associated with, among the most frequently repeated features we find simplicity, harmony, order. We intuitively assign these features to the ideology of minimalism. This philosophy is largely based on limiting. Both limiting needs and one's demands in life. It assumes removing unnecessary and redundant things or habits, and it's not just about the material sphere. It's important to keep in life the things that can bring us benefits, enrich us, and remove irrelevant elements that add nothing.

Minimalist style features and characteristics

The style of minimalism is present in every sphere of life. And although, as we mentioned, it means deeper life changes, under this name we can find many different meanings. We can talk about minimalism in interiors, minimalist fashion, shopping minimalism. They all have common features and are based on the principles of minimalism: choosing important things and rejecting the irrelevant, making wise choices, paying more attention to your own decisions and making them consciously.

Of course, depending on the environment and context, minimalism can take different forms. However, it's definitely worth getting to know its principles and perhaps even implementing them in your own life. We'll take a look at how minimalism works in fashion and what minimalist dressing style means. How can its principles be implemented. Minimalism in fashion is connected with phenomena such as less waste, ecology, slow fashion and sustainable fashion. Introducing changes in the approach to fashion has huge benefits for the environment, for society and for ourselves. What advantages can we personally gain from taking an interest in minimalist style in clothing and fashion?

Minimalist fashion, what are the advantages of minimalism in your wardrobe?

Minimalist clothing and the pursuit of introducing limits in your own wardrobe has many advantages. Even if you don't notice them at first. Minimalism in clothing is based on several solid foundations:

  • quality instead of quantity,
  • timeless, classic cuts instead of seasonal, short-lived trends,
  • plain, uniform clothes that are easy to mix together,
  • clothing tailored to your needs.

By applying these principles, we get closer to creating a practical, functional wardrobe. The popular capsule wardrobe is therefore largely based on the essential minimum in the wardrobe. By introducing clothing minimalism and keeping only practical clothes that combine perfectly with each other, we gain a great deal. And it's not just about space in the wardrobe, though that's also true. Among the advantages of applying minimalist style in clothing, as we've already noted, we can mention saving space, which matters especially in small spaces, where every square metre often counts. Giving up an extra wardrobe and slimming down the one you have definitely makes a difference.

Another advantage of this solution is the speed of getting dressed and creating outfits. By limiting the amount of unnecessary clothes we own, we definitely speed up putting outfits together, which in turn gives not only time savings, but also calmer mornings, when you don't have to rush around due to a delay in choosing the right outfit.

Minimalism in women's fashion is also a financial saving. Considering the speed at which new collections appear and avoiding unnecessary purchases, the savings can be really significant. No new purchases means, again, saving the time spent browsing, trying on and thinking about new clothes.

And finally, fewer clothes is a huge benefit for the environment. The fashion industry is responsible not only for a huge carbon dioxide emission, but also for polluting the seas. Due to the rapidly growing fashion market, this pollution has a colossal impact on our lives. The limitations introduced in this area, including clothing minimalism, are a step in the right direction to stop it.

Minimalist style clothing – what will come in handy?

Getting to know a bit about a minimalist wardrobe, it immediately stands out that its functionality doesn't depend on the amount of clothes, but on how correctly they are chosen. Sometimes less is more, you just need to make sure they are practical items that can be easily combined with the clothes you already own. For this purpose, it's a good idea to choose plain models, which are definitely easier to combine. Colourful or heavily patterned clothes won't really work in a minimalist wardrobe. The wardrobe should definitely include a base, which can consist of:

  • Simple, classic T-shirts e.g.
  • Women's sweatshirts
  • Elegant trousers, jeans, comfortable, classic tracksuits,
  • A classic coat in a neutral colour,
  • A biker jacket or other leather jacket,
  • A minimalist dress and skirt.

The quantity and type of individual clothes must be tailored to your needs. If you prefer skirts to trousers, then you should have more of them in your wardrobe. The same applies to the rest of your clothes. They must reflect your character, otherwise such a wardrobe will not fulfil its role, and organising the clothes will not pass the test.

Minimalist dresses – simplicity is strength

A good minimalist dress will work in any wardrobe. And it doesn't matter whether you prefer a minimalist style of dressing every day, or you still have too many clothes in your wardrobe. It's worth having at least one classic dress in it. Minimalist dresses with a timeless form have, among others, the advantage of always being appropriate and never going out of style. Moreover, they suit every situation. Minimalist looks are also much quicker to put together. If you add a universal colour to a minimalist dress, you can wear such a model at any time without worry. Minimalist women's clothing and men's clothes are a good base for any wardrobe. So if you like the minimalist trend and value order, harmony and space, and prefer to focus on important matters rather than getting bogged down in irrelevant ones, it's worth introducing this philosophy into your life, and in the next steps, also into your wardrobe.
