What does the colour green mean?
Green is a colour created from blue and yellow. Although it's a derived colour, it can be found almost everywhere. It dominates our surroundings especially in spring and summer. It's strongly linked to nature, fertility and new life. In Latin it's "viridias" and is connected with words associated with growth, such as: strength, vigour, maturity. Green is the colour of hope and freedom. It heralds new life, due to its strong connection with vegetation. What else does the colour green mean? Green is also a symbol of fate and randomness, which can be seen for example on casino tables or the colour of tennis courts.
The randomness and luck symbolised by green is best represented by the clover symbol.
The meaning and effect of the colour green

The colour green has a relaxing and calming effect. Even a brief glance at this colour lowers stress levels, soothes the nerves and has a relaxing effect on our nervous system. It's worth looking at it as often as possible. Green also represents that which is spiritual, associated with balance, calmness and tranquillity. Vitality, energy and strength are also traits attributed to this colour. Green, especially its lighter shades, is also sometimes associated with youth and innocence or immaturity. Although the colour green usually has positive connotations, in medieval times it was associated negatively, and wearing green clothing could bring bad luck and misfortune on the wearer. This may also be the reason for green's association with poison, venomous animals such as snakes or toads, and spoiled food.
