What is GOTS?

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a standard that came into effect in 2006. It is used to certify textile products and covers the entire production process, from the natural raw material to the finished product. Thanks to its rigorous processes, GOTS certification is recognised worldwide, quickly gained acclaim, and today it is recognisable in every country. Certification can cover fibres, knitted fabrics, home textiles, clothing and more. Importantly, the certificate must be renewed and is not granted permanently, which means that the processes implemented by companies can be continuously monitored to ensure they are still being followed. GOTS certification is based not only on organic raw materials, but also on environmentally friendly production and fair, worker-friendly labour standards.
