Starting nursery for the first time? It's a real challenge for little explorers and… their parents! This new stage in family life is usually accompanied by plenty of doubts, but you can prepare for it! Your toddler has lots of changes ahead, so the topic of nursery should come up in everyday life even before the child joins the setting. You can read your little one books whose main characters are at the same stage of life, and talk about what the daily routine at nursery looks like. A properly packed nursery kit will certainly make settling into the new place easier too. Lists vary depending on the setting, but they all include some basic elements.

What will your little one need at nursery? What must you not forget, and what can you skip? Check out our tips and make packing easier for yourself.
- Little ones will be learning or practising various self-care skills, including teeth brushing. A toothbrush, cup and fluoride-free toothpaste are a must-have.
- Depending on the child's age and the requirements of the given place, you'll need a small towel, nappies, a hairbrush and body cream on hand. Tissues and wet wipes in a box are essential, and their supply should be constantly replenished. A handy bag for wet items may also come in useful.
- A cup, water bottle or drinking bottle – depending on what the child uses.
- Spare footwear – slippers should be as easy as possible to put on, ideally slip-on or with Velcro straps, although that's still no guarantee the child will manage on their own. Some parents opt for non-slip socks or soft-soled slippers. It's worth making sure the child's feet don't overheat, as childcare settings are usually very warm.
- A bag or backpack – if there's a need to store a change of clothes.
- A full set of spare clothes. And not just one. In case of a sudden "accident", mess or change in weather. The most comfortable children's clothes are available at MyBasic. Thanks to the brand's unique system, T-shirts, sweatshirts and children's trousers for changing will always match the rest of your little one's wardrobe, while ensuring maximum comfort. - A sleep set. For nap time, you may need a fitted sheet, a pillow and a duvet with covers, and even pyjamas for the child, e.g. in the form of a romper. However, sometimes a favourite blanket and a soft toy are enough – it's worth providing the child with whatever helps them fall asleep best. This will spare your little one unnecessary stress.

All the items listed above should be labelled with your child's name. A special marker pen, name stickers or personalised iron-on labels work best for this.
