First production

November 2016

Designing classic and timeless models was our priority. 

We started with 35 pieces of clothing, including sweatpants, leggings, T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, for children and babies. 

To begin with, 15 colours, the ones most loved by children and adults. The only thing left was to find high-quality cotton, safe for children, with a certificate, and the first patterns could be created.

Finding a sewing workshop

January 2017

The next step was finding a sewing workshop in Poland, one that would implement our vision and ensure ethical clothing production. 

Even then, we knew we wanted to follow the still little-known slow fashion trend. 

Our clothes are meant to be worn comfortably and for a long time. So that when a child outgrows a size, it can be passed on to the next one.

We decided to create short production runs to avoid overproducing clothes. Our sewing workshop is in Poland, so we have full control over the process and, if needed, we'll add more collections later.

First purchases and photo shoot

April - May 2017

The first challenges lie ahead. Creating a proper clothing sorting system. We use our home garage for this, which is under 40 m2. 

A few shelves, proper labels, and everything is packed and ready for our customers.

We create a colourful logo, a website, and set up MyBasic accounts on Social Media! We take and publish product photos ourselves, wanting to show our vision. 

We get a lot of positive comments from you and finally it happens! May 21st - the first order in our online shop! What joy! Our motivation to act grows even more.

Time to show off the clothes in the first photo shoot. At first amateurishly, Justyna takes the first photos of her children and their friends in her flat. A bright space and her own camera were enough, and we already have photos of the clothes on children.

We quickly realise this isn't enough and that we need to show you our clothes in a space other than home. 

We find our first professional studio and take photos outdoors. The idea? Childlike joy, movement, urban space.

And what makes us even happier than a professional shoot? Your photos in our clothes. You start sending and sharing them. 

We feel the power of Social Media, showing you more and more inspiration on how to wear MyBasic clothes and how to combine colours, which, as it turned out, you loved just as much as we do.

Moving to a warehouse

December 2018

We have more and more orders, and we try to improve our home system, but we already know it's time to move. So we move to a proper warehouse. With plenty of space!

The shelves with our packages grow month by month. Orders keep coming in, and we keep creating new models for you. Among others, reversible hats, neck warmers, rompers, polo shirts. You fall in love with our yellow and mustard shades.

First women's dress and Junior collection

March 2019

Riding the wave of growing popularity of our children's clothes, we get more and more requests for sizes for older kids too. 

We feel this is the moment we can no longer refuse.

We introduce the Junior collection for children aged 11-14. We start with the most popular models, such as sweatpants, T-shirts, dresses, shorts and sweatshirts. 

Will the older kids love our colours too? Will the same models designed for younger children be equally appealing to them? We already know the answer is yes!

Mums loved dressing their daughters in our dresses. So we couldn't resist the requests for a dress for mums too, and the first women's sweatshirt-fabric dress appears in the shop. 

This is a breakthrough moment, as we decide to introduce a collection for adults as well!

And more new items: socks, cotton bags, a polo dress, a zip-up sweatshirt, overalls and much more...

First striped clothes and hats 

Summer 2020

This is a year that started very difficultly. A worldwide epidemic and uncertainty about what's to come. Will you still need our clothes? 

We receive enormous support from you, you decide to support Polish shops by shopping a lot! 

We feel immense gratitude, so we surprise you with something totally new - striped clothes. 

From now on you can buy 11 models in 3 stripe colours: red, mustard and navy. Your reception is very positive, you want even more models and more stripe colours.

After summer, it's time for winter! Merino wool, a total novelty, wins your hearts. The hats and neck warmers made from it sell out in literally a few days.

The adult collection grows to include T-shirts and sweatpants. In autumn we offer you brown and caramel.

Sustainable fashion

2021

Thousands of orders from you! We feel we have the strength to do even more. We want to know what happens to our clothes once you no longer need them. 

We launch the first edition of the Exchange Clothes campaign! You send us your clothes, collect discount codes, and we pass them on to those in need. Our idea of sustainable fashion gains momentum.

We create a special space for you. The MyBasic Lovers Facebook group is born. You inspire each other by sharing your outfits, but above all, you inspire us. This is a place where we listen to your needs and expectations. Since then, your numbers have grown to over six thousand!

It's also definitely a year of new colours! As many as four new ones, for summer: coral and sky blue, and for autumn, powder pink and bottle green.

More and more...

2022

... new models, colours, and even fabrics. Since the beginning of this year, we've already surprised you with pastels, dresses and skirts, culottes, a totally new fabric - muslin, and many other products. 

Our brand founder Justyna received recognition in the Woman e-commerce competition in the Best Online Shop category :)

It's time to welcome new MyBasic customers - newborns. It's for them that we introduced a new range of GOTS-certified clothes, taking care of their safety. Envelope bodysuits, but also hats, nappies, everything needed for the first moments with a little one.

Knowing how much you love making carnival costumes from our clothes, we designed animal masks that made creating them easier. In the "Dress-up clothing" competition, where you sent in your photos, we saw that your creativity knows no bounds.

Fabric scraps left over from our clothing production have gone on sale. But that's not all... together with Ultramaszyna, we designed cuddly toys that you can now sew from them. A dolphin, a penguin or a whale - the kids loved them all.

Colourful and creative

2023

We started our colourful months - from then on, we welcomed each new one with a different colour. Blue in February, orange in October, and red in December. We surprised you with colourful photo sessions and inspired you with fun facts about colours.

MyBasic and Marioinex joined forces on a creative project. Using MyBasic's basic clothing as a canvas, we added Marioinex blocks and created unique animal characters. A frog, a bear, a fox and a pig - you choose the most interesting one.

We started colouring Polish cities with the "Select colour" campaign. We visited Polish cities, walking through them in our colours. Green in Warsaw, yellow in Wrocław, or turquoise in Gdynia. And that was just the beginning.....

More and more ideas

2024

Our Select colour campaign is still ongoing - 8 sessions, different colours and different cities. Influencers are joining the campaign, helping us colour Polish cities. Your response has been remarkable - you send us photos and help us colour Polish cities.

At MyBasic, we know that colours have power – they can warm you up, spark your imagination and add a special character to every moment. And so our clothes added colour to everyday adventures in the Lumagica garden of lights in Warsaw. You could meet us walking through the garden, lit up by over a million colourful lights.

We surprised you with a completely new fabric in our collection - viscose. You welcomed the whole collection very well, appreciating its comfort and ease of wear. New colours and the first trousers in two lengths!

As part of our less waste efforts, we held workshops using fabric scraps to inspire you to create unique items from leftovers. We sewed flowers, which became your inspiration for decorating clothes and accessories. This turned out to be just the beginning, because we still have many more ideas...

We keep going

2025

We started this year with a joint campaign with the Red Noses Foundation. In our joint Valentine's campaign, we raised funds to support the everyday work of clowns in hospital wards.

What's next? We've got our heads full of ideas for at least a few more years!
