Brand story
So many years together... But how did it all start?
Justyna is the mastermind behind the idea of creating a place filled with colorful clothes. While searching for clothes for her own children, she realized that the Polish market lacked options that were both high-quality and affordable for everyone. And thus, the story began... Driven by the desire to bring color to everyday life and to make it easier for parents who, like Justyna, struggled to find the right wardrobe for their children.
November 2016
Designing timeless, classic models was a top priority. We started with 35 items, including sweatpants, leggings, t-shirts, and hoodies for children and infants. Initially, we offered 15 colors, those most loved by both children and adults. The next step was finding high-quality cotton, safe for children and certified. With this, we could begin creating the first patterns.
January 2017
The next step was to find a sewing workshop in Poland that could implement our vision and ensure ethical clothing production. Even then, we knew we wanted to follow the relatively unknown path of slow fashion. Our clothes are designed to be worn comfortably and last a long time, so that when a child outgrows them, they can be passed on to another.
We decided to produce in short series to avoid overproduction. Our sewing workshop is located in Poland, giving us full control over the process and allowing us to produce additional collections as needed.
April - May 2017
We faced our first challenges. Creating an efficient system for sorting clothes was essential. We utilized our home garage, which was just under 40 square meters. A few shelves, proper labels, and everything was ready for our customers.
We designed a colorful logo, created a website, and set up MyBasic accounts on social media! We took and published the product photos ourselves to showcase our vision.
We received a lot of positive feedback from you, and finally, it happened! On May 21, we received our first order in the online store! What joy! Our motivation to move forward grew even stronger.
It was time to show off the clothes in our first photo session. Initially, Justyna took amateur photos of her children and their friends in her apartment. A bright space and her own camera were enough to capture the clothes on the kids.
We quickly realized that this wasn't enough and that we needed to showcase our clothes in a setting beyond the home. We found our first professional studio and did a photoshoot outdoors. The concept? Children's joy, movement, urban spaces.
What makes us even happier than the professional photoshoot? Your photos of your children in our clothes. You started sharing and posting them. We felt the power of social media, showing you more and more inspiration on how to wear MyBasic clothes and how to mix the colors, which, as it turned out, you loved just as much as we did.
December 2018
We were receiving more and more orders, and despite our efforts to streamline our home system, we realized it was time to move.
So, we relocated to a proper warehouse with ample space! Month by month, the shelves filled with our packages. Orders kept coming in, and we continued to create new models for you. Among them were reversible hats, neck warmers, rompers, and polo shirts. You fell in love with our yellow and mustard colors.
March 2019
Riding the wave of growing popularity of our children's clothes, we received increasing inquiries about sizes for older kids. We felt it was the right moment to expand.
We introduced the Junior collection for children aged 11-14. We started with the most popular models, such as sweatpants, t-shirts, dresses, shorts, and hoodies. Will older kids also love our colors? Will the same models as for younger kids be just as attractive to them? We already know the answer is yes!
Mothers loved dressing their daughters in our dresses. We couldn't resist their requests for a dress for moms, so we introduced the first women's sweatshirt dress in our store. This was a groundbreaking moment, as we decided to launch a collection for adults as well!
And more new items: socks, cotton bags, polo dresses, zip-up hoodies, overalls, and much more!
Summer 2020
This year began with significant challenges. A global epidemic and uncertainty about the future left us wondering if you would still need our clothes. We received immense support from you as you decided to support Polish stores by making numerous purchases! We felt tremendous gratitude, so we surprised you with something completely new - striped clothes. You could now buy 11 models in three stripe colors: red, mustard, and teal. Your response was fantastic, and you wanted even more models and more stripe colors.
Our vision continues to evolve! We aim to create a place where you can buy not only clothes but also other accessories. We started with hats. First, summer hats. We spent a long time searching for a material that would truly protect children's heads from UV radiation. UV sun hats appeared in our store.
After summer, it was time for winter! Merino wool, a completely new material, won your hearts. Hats and neck warmers made from this wool sold out in just a few days.
The adult collection expanded to include t-shirts and sweatpants. In the fall, we introduced brown and caramel colors.
2021
Thousands of orders from you! We felt empowered to do more. We wanted to know what happens to our clothes when you no longer need them. Thus, we launched the first edition of the campaign "Pass on the Clothes!" You sent us your used clothes, received discount codes in return, and we donated the clothes to those in need. Our vision of sustainable fashion was gaining momentum.
We created a special space for you. The MyBasic Lovers group was established on Facebook. You inspire each other by sharing styling tips, but most importantly, you inspire us. This is a place where we listen to your needs and expectations. Since then, the group has grown to over six thousand members!
This year also marked the introduction of new colors! Four new shades for summer: coral and sky blue, and for autumn: dusty pink and bottle green.
2022
...new models, colors, and even materials. Since the beginning of this year, we've surprised you with pastels, dresses and skirts, culottes, a completely new material—muslin—and many other products. Our founder, Justyna, received an award in the "Woman in E-commerce" competition in the Best Online Store category :)
The time has come to welcome MyBasic’s newest customers—newborns. It’s precisely for them that we’ve introduced a new range of GOTS-certified clothing, ensuring their safety. Envelope bodysuits, along with hats, diapers—everything needed for those first moments with your little one.
Knowing how much you love creating carnival costumes from our clothes, we designed animal masks that made it easier for you to put them together. In the "Clothes to Disguise" contest, where you sent in your photos, we saw that your creativity truly knows no bounds.
Scraps of fabric left over from our clothing production have now appeared for sale. But that's not all... Together with Ultramaszyna, we've designed plush toys you can sew from those scraps. Dolphin, penguin, or whale—children have loved them all!
2023
We started our “colorful months”—from that point on, we welcomed each new month with a different hue. Blue in February, orange in October, and red in December. We surprised you with colorful photo shoots and inspired you with fun facts about these colors.
MyBasic and Marioinex have joined forces in a creative project. Using MyBasic basic clothes as a canvas, we combined them with Marioinex blocks to create unique animal characters. Frog, bear, fox, or pig—pick your favorite!
We started adding color to Polish cities with our “I Choose Color” campaign. We visited various Polish cities, passing through them in our signature hues—green in Warsaw, yellow in Wrocław, or turquoise in Gdynia. And that was just the beginning...
2024
Our "I Choose Color" campaign continues with eight sessions, various colors, and different cities. Influencers have joined the campaign, helping us bring more color to Polish cities. Your response has been incredible—you've been sending us photos and helping us color these cities together!
At MyBasic, we know that colors have power—they can warm you, spark the imagination, and give every moment a special character. And so, our clothes added a touch of color to everyday adventures at the Lumagica light garden in Warsaw. You may have spotted us strolling through the garden, illuminated by over a million colorful lights.
We totally surprised you with a brand-new fabric in our collection—viscose. You embraced the entire range warmly, appreciating its comfort and ease. Plus, there are new colors and our first-ever pants available in two lengths!
As part of our less-waste initiatives, we hosted workshops using fabric scraps to inspire you to create one-of-a-kind items from leftover materials. We sewed flowers that served as inspiration for decorating clothes and accessories. And that turned out to be just the beginning, because we still have plenty of ideas in store...

2025
We started this year with a joint initiative alongside the Czerwone Noski (Red Noses) Foundation. During our shared Valentine’s Day campaign, we raised funds to support the daily work of clowns in hospital wards.
What’s next? We’ve got a head full of ideas for at least the next few years!
Thank you for being with us!
